New free ebook added to the Fantasy Tavern

Catherine M. Wilson, author of the When Women Were Warriors trilogy published by the Shield Maiden Press, is offering the first book in the trilogy The Warrior's Path for free from her website. She has a Kindle compatible format, pdf, and epub to download.

These books are not an exact fit for the fantasy genre. Set during the Bronze Age in the British Isles, I will label them as prehistoric fiction. I tend to like prehistoric settings. They inspire me to think about humanity in a more primitive state. I don't mean less sophisticated state, just one that is not modern. The stories are allowed a lot of creative liberty because it is imagining a time that has little or no written records to create factual conflicts.

In The Warrior's Path, a matrilineal society is portrayed in which a class of females has a strong tradition as warriors. The story seeks to create a female vision of the classic mythological hero that has traditionally been defined in male terms.
