How to add Epub ebooks to Apple devices like iPhone & iPad

If you use Apple devices you may have already noticed how easy it is to shop and download samples within its ebook store iBooks. However, you may also be interested in knowing how to directly add epub format ebooks to your iPhone or iPad because not everything is in the Apple iBooks store. This information will also come in handy if someone wants to share an ebook with you that may or not be available within the Apple system.

1. Choose an ebook in the Epub format. It cannot have digital rights management encryption.

2. Open iTunes on your PC or Mac and put the epub ebooks into your Books Library. Do this by choosing File > Add File to Library. Dragging and dropping the files into the Books Library will work too.

3. Connect your iPad or other device to your PC or Mac with the USB cable. In iTunes, your iPad should now appear in the source list under devices.

4. To sync books to your device, click on iPad or iPhone under Devices and then click the Books tab at the top of the window. You can now choose to sync all books or selected books. After making your selections, click Apply to sync to your iPad.

The process will be the same for syncing to iPhone or iPod Touch using iOS 4.
