Rys Rising: Book I is my ongoing free fantasy ebook to promote the whole series, and it was placed on the Spec Fic Daily home page today as the featured freebie at Kobo. Kobo is considered an upcoming ebook retailer with an international focus. I've always had some sales at this important globally focused store, and I hope today marks the point when I get to establish a better presence with Kobo customers. One thing that is cool about Kobo is that it sells its content in openly accessible formats. It's not trying to restrict you to a certain device.
Hope that went well for you. I've not gotten any traction at Kobo. I suspect only having 2 books might have something to do with that, but other than that it seems a hard nut to crack.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how many downloads that feature at Spec Fic Daily produced. I distribute into Kobo through Smashwords, so my sales reports are quite delayed and I'm not very good at studying them anyway. But I do sell hundreds of ebooks (on top of free ebooks) at Kobo every year and I would not want to lose it as a sales channel. I got sales there mostly just by being there, so now I'm trying to focus on marketing to its customers a little more. In March I'm participating in a big group giveaway promotion at Trindiebooks.com that is a very Kobo focused site.
ReplyDeleteI go directly through Kobo. Their interface is probably one of the best, though it is one more retailer I have to keep updated. I'm checking out Trindiebooks. Always looking for new advertising avenues.
